 OUR MUSIC

The Music Ministry at New Covenant is an integral part of the life of this congregation.  We currently have 6 choirs and one praise band

Celebration Choir:   Adult choir that rehearses Wednesdays from 7:15 - 8:30 pm and sings during worship the 1st, 3rd and 4th Sundays

Youth Choir:  Open to youth in grades 7 - 12.  Rehearses Sunday nights from 5:45 - 6:30 pm, sings as scheduled 2nd Sunday

God's Kids Choir:  Our children's choir rehearses Wednesdays from  6:30 - 7:15 pm, and sings the 3rd Sunday

Cherub's Choir:  This is our newest choir and is for children ages 3-5; rehearses Wednesdays from 6:00 - 6:30 pm.  They sing the 4th Sunday

Jubilee Ringers:  Three octave handbell choir, rehearses Wednesdays from 6:00 - 7:00 pm, performs the 4th Sunday of the month

Sonshine Chimers:  This is a beginning bell/chime choir which will concentrate on learning the basics, music and rhythm.  They will perform at the discretion of the director.  This choir is for kids ages 6 through 6th grade.

Praise Group:  This group is looking for members to play instruments and sing.  They will perform in worship as scheduled, probably every other month.   Rehearsals will be as scheduled also.

Liturgical Dancers:  Liturgical dancing is used on occasion to enhance the worship experience.

Along with our choirs, there are numerous opportunities for solos and small ensembles.  We especially encourage our young people to participate in this very important ministry.  On special occassions, we incorporate significant musicals in our worship life.

SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS:

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

New Covenant Players:   This group periodically puts on plays and has done things such as a murder mystery dinner theater and comedies.  This group is for adults.

Cracked Pots:  Women's group that meets for fellowship at the church or on occassion at members's homes on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 pm

Lunch and a Book:  We read a book a month and meet for lunch at a local restaurant to discuss the book.

Youth Group:  Group for Youth in grades 7-12.  Meets 6:30-8:00 on Sunday nights or as scheduled for special events.  The Youth also put on a large musical every spring.

Beginner Pee Wee Basketball Team:  This newly formed team, part of the John Bower Sunday School League, is for children in 2nd grade and under.  Practices are Wednesday nights from 7:15-7:45 and games are Saturday mornings.

Fellowship of Carpenters:  This is a men's group that will meet the second Saturday of each month; both to grow spiritually and enjoy Christian fellowship.  Breakfast and good food is often involved.

Greening of the Church:  This group is meeting as scheduled to talk about ways to "green" the church.  So far they have placed recyclable containers throughout the church, changed lightbulbs to the new kind and oversaw the planting of a new tree.  More to come!

Disaster Prepardedness Committeee:  This group is in touch with local agencies on the steps to be taken in the event of a declared disaster.  New Covenant has been designated a disaster relief shelter by the Red Cross.

Safe Church:  This group is looking at ways to make our church a "safe" place to be which includes the physical plant of the church and the "safe" atmosphere with both workers and volunteers so that families feel confident leaving their children in our care.
